Planet A Ventures, the Berlin-based climate tech fund, booked its second London evening with me in three months: an x-Arrival alumni drinks on 29 September 2026 in a private room at the Hare and Hounds. Arrival, the electric vehicle company once billed as the "British Tesla", has left a long trail of engineers, operators and founders now working across European deeptech, and this evening brought a good number of them back into one room.

Zenithon AI Founders

Zenithon AI is a London startup building AI world models for extreme physics, systems that predict how complex physical systems behave so engineers can design fusion reactors, rockets and semiconductor equipment faster. Its pitch is that a model can explore a million design points in the time it takes to run one conventional simulation. I photographed its two founders, Alex Higginbottom, founder and CEO, and Abetharan Antony, co-founder and CTPO, at the Barbican on Monday 7 September 2026, ahead of the company's brand and website launch.

Zaro.ai commissioned a founder portrait session at Two Pancras Square in King's Cross to coincide with the company's pre-seed funding announcement, led by Cherry Ventures. The brief called for a flexible set of images: clean individual headshots for press bios and speaker profiles, and environmental duo shots establishing the founding team as a unit for launch coverage and ongoing media use.

Backed VC Photo Essay

Backed VC, the London-based early-stage fund founded by Andre de Haes and Alex Brunicki, gave Dan Taylor exclusive access to their East London office to mark the announcement of two new funds totalling €150 million: a €75 million seed fund and a €75 million follow-on fund. The resulting piece, written and photographed by Dan Taylor, ran on Tech.eu as both an interview and a photo essay.

Bumper booked a company-wide team photography session at a large warehouse venue in north London on 10 November 2021. The brief was broad by design: headshots for individual staff that would need to work across a wide variety of media, from press and social profiles to internal and investor-facing material, so the images had to read cleanly at any size and in any context rather than being tailored to one specific use.

Infarm London Team Photography

Infarm, the vertical farming company, commissioned team photography for its London operation on 11 May 2021, run alongside a video shoot from Matt Cowan of Modern Lore. The brief covered the team from two angles: clean studio headshots against a plain white backdrop for straightforward bio and press use, and a second, more distinctive set shot in situ inside the company's own vertical farm units, using the growing infrastructure itself to tell Infarm's story rather than a generic office backdrop.

Martin Rajcan needed a new set of headshots to cover the range of roles he holds across venture capital: General Partner at Kaya VC, Principal at Tenet Global, and advisor to Blue Bear Capital. Rather than a studio booking, the session ran at his own flat in London on 26 February 2021, with a clean white backdrop set up for straightforward, versatile portraits that would work across all three firms' bios and profiles.

Bits & Pretzels 2019

Bits & Pretzels, the Munich founders festival known for pairing Silicon Valley-calibre speakers with a distinctly Bavarian dress code, booked full coverage of its 2019 edition at Messe München. Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, opened the day in a fireside chat, but the session the entire festival was built around came later: President Barack Obama's headline appearance, his first major address at a European tech conference since leaving office.

Freedom Fighters: Oslo 2019

In May 2019 I travelled to Oslo for the Human Rights Foundation's Oslo Freedom Forum, the annual gathering that brings dissidents, journalists, and pro-democracy activists from around the world onto one stage under the theme 'Unite'. I wasn't there on assignment. I went with a self-initiated project called Freedom Fighters: a set of formal studio portraits of the people who spend their lives pushing back against authoritarian power, shot with the same care and attention a magazine would give a head of state.

Borys Lozhkin, the Ukrainian entrepreneur and philanthropist who founded Ukrainian Media Holding and served as Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine under President Petro Poroshenko, booked a headshot session at a studio in central London on 16 July 2018, a few months after being elected President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine.

NOAH Berlin Speakers' Dinner

The evening before the NOAH Berlin conference, Axel Springer CEO Mathias Döpfner hosted a speakers' dinner in a wood-panelled library room high above the city, with Peter Thiel as the night's highlight speaker. The brief was deliberately loose on specifics and firm on tone: capture the mood and vibe of the room rather than a formal record of who attended, and stay discreet throughout, working around the edges of the dinner rather than through the middle of it.
